Successful product development follows a flow from concept to commercial product. Our expert guidance ensures that your project is ready to move to the next phase.
research
This phase is often the most important, but sometimes underestimated. DTD actively works with the client to understand the marketplace, end-user needs, regulatory concerns and cost targets to provide design input for commercial success. Our experience can identify pitfalls early to avoid future impacts.
concept
Working with your team, we rapidly converge on a series of concepts that help to direct the boundaries of the product. We then narrow down the scope by weighing the features and the benefits. At the end of this phase, a clear concept will emerge.
design
Working from the specifications, the design is committed to a 3D workspace where the product can be fully visualized and shared with the team. This process is iterative as discoveries are made during the definition.
prototype
The prototype is often the first opportunity to touch and feel the product; it is also the first time to test the basic functionality. DTD leverages partners who rapidly deliver prototypes with the look, feel and performance of manufactured parts. The prototype and design phase are closely linked since information gained from the prototype is driven back into the design.
document
Once the product specifications are met by testing the prototype, the product is ready to be documented for manufacturing. This documentation package often consists of the CAD database, drawings, artwork and other collateral that conveys what is expected from the manufacturer.
manufacture
Designing for manufacturing is key to successful product release, and DTD is focused on commercialized designs We have a broad range of partners that will help transition your product into the market.
